Quick Start Guide

Get up and running with Veila in just a few minutes. This guide will walk you through your first conversation and show you the essential features.

Step 1: Access Veila

  1. Visit app.praivacy.me
  2. If you don't have an account yet, click "Join Waitlist" or "Sign Up"
  3. Sign in with your credentials

Step 2: Your First Chat

Once you're logged in, you'll see the main chat interface:

Starting a New Conversation

  1. Click the "+ New Chat" button in the sidebar
  2. Type your message in the text box at the bottom
  3. Select an AI model from the dropdown (we recommend starting with gpt-4o-mini)
  4. Press Enter or click "Send"
Example first message:
"Hello! Can you explain what quantum computing is in simple terms?"

Understanding the Interface

  • Left Sidebar: Your chat history and folders
  • Main Area: Current conversation
  • Bottom: Message input and model selector
  • Top Right: Your encrypted status indicator 🔒

Step 3: Try Key Features

Switch AI Models Mid-Conversation

One of Veila's unique features is the ability to switch AI models during a conversation:

  1. In the same chat, select a different model from the dropdown
  2. Ask a follow-up question
  3. Compare how different models respond to the same context
Try this: Ask GPT-4 a question, then switch to Claude and ask "What do you think about that answer?"

Organize Your Chats

Keep your conversations organized:

  1. Create folders: Click "+ New Folder" in the sidebar
  2. Rename chats: Click the three dots next to any chat → "Rename"
  3. Drag and drop: Move chats into folders

Check Your Privacy Status

Look for these privacy indicators:

  • 🔒 "Conversation encrypted" in the chat header
  • Anonymous user count in the top header
  • No personal information required anywhere

Step 4: Explore Model Options

Veila gives you access to multiple AI providers:

OpenAI Models

  • gpt-4o - Most capable, higher cost
  • gpt-4o-mini - Great balance of capability and cost
  • gpt-3.5-turbo - Fast and economical

Anthropic Models

  • claude-3-5-sonnet - Excellent reasoning and analysis
  • claude-3-haiku - Fast and cost-effective

Other Providers

  • Mistral, Meta, and more models available

Tip: Each model has different strengths. GPT-4 excels at creative tasks, Claude is great for analysis, and smaller models are perfect for simple questions.

Step 5: Manage Your Credits

Understanding the billing system:

  1. Check your balance: Look at the bottom of the chat input
  2. Free tier: Use daily without cost
  3. Pay-as-you-go: Top up credits when needed
  4. Real-time costs: See pricing for each model in the interface

Credit Tips

  • Start with smaller models to learn the system
  • Monitor your usage in the pricing display
  • Free tier resets daily at midnight
  • Credits never expire (3-year policy)

Pro Tips for New Users

1. Experiment with Conversations

Try these conversation starters:
- "Help me plan a weekend trip to [city]"
- "Explain [complex topic] like I'm 12 years old"  
- "Write a professional email about [situation]"
- "Debug this code: [paste your code]"

2. Use Folders Effectively

  • Create folders like "Work", "Learning", "Creative Projects"
  • Use descriptive chat names instead of "New Chat"
  • Archive old conversations you don't need

3. Model Selection Strategy

  • Simple questions: Use gpt-3.5-turbo or claude-haiku
  • Complex analysis: Use claude-3-5-sonnet or gpt-4o
  • Creative writing: Use gpt-4o
  • Code help: Any model works well

Troubleshooting

Common First-Time Issues

Can't see my previous chats?

  • Your chats are encrypted and tied to your login session
  • Make sure you're using the same account

Model not responding?

  • Check your credit balance
  • Try switching to a different model
  • Refresh the page if needed

Interface looks different?

  • We regularly update the interface for better usability
  • Core functionality remains the same
